Watch Dogs For PC, Xbox, PS Gets Release Date And New Story Trailer

Watch Dogs For PC, Xbox, PS Gets Release Date And New Story Trailer [VIDEO]

With the imminent release of Titanfall, it’s rather easy to forget that, in actual fact, there are some other pretty big titles hitting the gaming world in 2014. With two brand new consoles on the scene in the form of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, developers and publishers are doing their utmost to prepare us for some marquee releases, and Watch Dogs, which has just become available to pre-order, will hit shelves on May 27th. Further details, as well as the official trailer accompanying the announcement, can be seen below.
A short while ago, the trailer leaked out into the wild, in turn revealing the release date, and whether this was an intentional stunt pulled by Ubisoft or not, the title’s official Twitter page has since stepped out with the confirmation.

So, fans looking to get hold of Watch Dogs can now mark May 27th, 2014 down in their diaries. At almost twelve weeks away, it’s quite a lengthy wait, but with the aforementioned introduction of Titanfall and one or two other games expected to arrive before then, gamers have plenty to keep themselves occupied in the meantime.
The trailer itself is just over two minutes long, and although, as to be expected at this stage, it doesn’t offer much of an insight as to the gameplay, it does attempt to set the scene by introducing snippets of the plot and main characters.
Watch_Dogs release date
For the benefit of the uninitiated, Watch Dogs follows a similar theme to the likes of Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row, drafting in elements of gang culture, brushes with the law, and other such niceties. As you’d expect, there’ll be plenty of weaponry, vehicles – the whole kaboodle – and judging by the trailer, which is embedded below, we’re going to be in for an enthralling ride.
Screenshot (82)
The Ubisoft title will release for the PlayStation 3 / 4, Xbox 360 / One, as well as Windows PC on May 27th. In a bit of a turn up for the books, Watch Dogs will also be available to those on Nintendo’s oft-overlooked Wii U console, although it will be subject to delay, instead dropping later on in June.
Here’s the official trailer, and we’ll keep you guys updated on any further tidbits related to the game:

Microsoft Planning To Bring Xbox 360 Emulation To Xbox One

Microsoft Planning To Bring Xbox 360 Emulation To Xbox One

The Microsoft Xbox One, which released towards the latter stages of last year, already boasts a sizeable catalog titles. But while those rocking the old Xbox 360 cannot enjoy the cutting-edge graphics offered by the latest machine, the range of games is much broader, and naturally, many gaming fans have appealed for Microsoft to introduce backwards compatibility with those old 360 games. Apparently, partner development lead Frank Savage suggested at last week’s BUILD that the idea of an Xbox 360 emulator is not out of the question, although it remains unclear as to if, when or how such a feature would be achieved.

To an outsider, it may seem like a very straightforward concept that a newer, more powerful system should run older games without too much issue. But in reality, there are several kinks that would need to be worked out before an emulator could be implemented, namely the fact that the Xbox one runs on X86 architecture whilst its predecessor runs PowerPC. Bridging the gap would be both time-consuming and tedious, and even though purists would love to see backwards compatibility, it remains to be known whether the software maker sees any value in it.
Xbox controller side shot
On the topic, Savage didn’t rule anything out, tentatively suggesting that plans were at discussion stage. “We’re not done thinking them through yet, unfortunately,” he said, going on to note that “it turns out to be hard to emulate the PowerPC stuff on the X86 stuff” and that while “there’s nothing to announce,” he would “love” to see it happen.
This likely echoes the sentiments of thousands of gamers, stuck with stacks of titles but forced to maintain two consoles in order to play both old and new. The Xbox 360 has no problem playing most old Xbox games, but given the key technological alterations this time around, getting the Xbox One to play nicely with Xbox 360 games will be a great deal tougher.
Xbox One 360 comparison
Given the furore surrounding certain used games polices in the run-up to the Xbox One’s release, it’s clear that the Redmond company isn’t thrilled by the idea of facilitating these kinds of features. With that said,`we also saw during the months leading up to the launch that the voice of the masses is one to be listened and adhered to, and if Microsoft begins to notice the demand, then nothing can be ruled out at this stage.
Would you like to see an Xbox 360 emulator release for the Xbox One?

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 For Xbox One, 360 Released [Download Link]

It’s been a couple of weeks since The Amazing Spider-Man 2 game first appeared on mobile devices after hitting the App Store and Google Play for iOS and Android users respectively, and now, the full-on Spider-Man experience has arrived for Xbox. As announced by Larry Hryb, better known to most as Xbox LIVE’s Major Nelson, the title is now on sale for the Xbox 360 as well as Microsoft’s all-new Xbox One, and if you’ve been waiting patiently to play this action-packed, movie-based epic, you can finally now get your fill.
The movie, like the accompanying mobile game, was released a couple of weeks back internationally, and while the Xbox One and Xbox 360 version is loosely based upon the 2nd film, it’s also different enough to keep things interesting and engaging. After all, if you’ve caught the movie already, you mightn’t want to revisit the same storyline all over again, so Spider-Man’s battle to defend New York City against a new-found threat should keep game-loving Spider-Man fans duly entertained.

The usual array of villains are present, and although we haven’t had a chance to play this for ourselves, we’ll definitely be giving it a swing later on.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 can be picked up from the Xbox Game Store, with pricing and availability varying dependent upon region.
image
If you’re a gamer but don’t happen to own a Microsoft-made console then do not despair, for the Amazing Spider-Man 2 is also arriving to those on the Sony PlayStation 3 / PlayStation 4, Nintendo’s Wii U and 3DS, as well as, of course, Microsoft Windows.

Even though the movie has been on show for the past couple of weeks across the globe, it doesn’t hit the United States until later on this week, so Stateside Spider-Man fans could use this release for Xbox as a bit of a teaser before box offices begin showing The Amazing Spider-Man 2 from May 2nd.

The Spider-Man games of the past have been somewhat underwhelming, but judging by the trailer, Activision looks to have have gotten its act together and produced something worthy of such a popular series.
Pick it up right now from the Xbox Game Store, and be sure to leave your comments and initial impressions below!

Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare Trailer, Release Date Official, Watch It Here

Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare Trailer, Release Date Official, Watch It Here

The Call of Duty franchise has been running strong for the past few years, and although some gamers have expressed angst at the continual re-hash of a theme that doesn’t appear to change much year-in, year-out, the sales figures suggest that Activsion’s flagship first-person shooter is still immensely popular to this day. The first trailer for 2014’s installment – Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – has just been released, and features Hollywood veteran Kevin Spacey. Check it out after the break!
Almost every year since its inception, Call of Duty has played a game of its own – smashing previous sales records with each new release, however last year, this was brought to an abrupt halt by the monumental success of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5, which surpassed anything the video gaming industry has ever seen.
Cod Advanced Warfare
But despite some big titles in the offing for release later on this year, there’s definitely scope for CoD to reclaim its spot at the summit, and even though this Advanced Warfare trailer is purely cinematic, the inclusion of an animated Spacey will no doubt help the title gain some additional coverage among movie buffs. Apparently, the actor will play an integral role in proceedings, heading a military group launching attacks on the United States.
The trailer wasn’t supposed to be seen by the general public until Sunday, but thanks to a leak, Activision decided to throw it out on the official Call of Duty YouTube channel.
CoD Kevin Spacey
The footage was captured on the Xbox One, although given how the PlayStation 4 is of a similar specification, the clip offers a fairly accurate impression what the experience might be like on the Sony console. As well as the two major new gaming machines, the fourth and final installment to the Modern Warfare series is expected to release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Microsoft Windows.
As for the game’s arrival to market, it’s slated for release on November 4th, provided no unforeseen delays occur in the build-up.
Anyhow, whether you’re looking forward to the launch or simply curious as to what’s in store for this year’s edition of Call of Duty, be sure to check out the feature-length trailer, which we’ve embedded below for your viewing pleasure.

Xbox One To Get Backwards Compatibility For Xbox 360 Games In Future Software Update

Xbox One To Get Backwards Compatibility For Xbox 360 Games In Future Software Update

When the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 emerged all those years ago, it was always assumed that both would offer backwards compatibility with the titles of their respective predecessors, but in the run-up to the current-gen machines – particularly Microsoft’s Xbox One – it quickly became apparent that things wouldn’t be so clear-cut. Since the Xbox maker’s latest entertainment machine landed late last year, gamers have been in limbo with regards to eventual support for Xbox 360 titles, and now some encouraging news has been revealed to suggest that this may, in future, become a possibility, which follows on forward from an earlier report that suggested the same thing.
Moreover, it seems that Microsoft could offer backwards support by means of a software update. But while it’s something that the Windows maker appears to have on standby, those hoping for said update to arrive soon are probably going to be left disappointed for the time being.
Xbox controller side shot
With some new Halo titles on the way for the Xbox One, offering backwards compatibility would make very little sense so soon in the new console’s life, and while it may be something that occurs one, two, or maybe even three years down the line, it’s very unlikely to happen imminently.
This means, for now, folks wanting to play Xbox 360 games will have to keep two boxes beneath their TV sets. This is a bit of an inconvenience, of course, but you can hardly blame Microsoft for keeping this feature under lock and key – especially given the early deficit in sales versus Sony’s PlayStation 4.
Back at the BUILD developers event, it emerged that Microsoft was considering backwards compatibility, and Xbox head Phil Spencer has once again echoed these sentiments. But with the big E3 gaming expo now well and truly on the horizon, it seems far-fetched that any announcements will be made in this regard beyond a few more murmurings, and instead, we’re better to focus our attentions on what Microsoft may or may not unveil.

Thanks to a significant leak back in May, most of Sony’s big surprises appear to have already been divulged, but for Microsoft and the Xbox One, we’re certainly eager to learn of what’s in store.
The event kicks off next week on Tuesday, June 10th, and we’ll have feature-length coverage on all of the major announcements, so stay tuned!

Sign-Up And Download Battlefield Hardline Beta For PC, PS4 Right Now, Here’s How!

Sign-Up And Download Battlefield Hardline Beta For PC, PS4 Right Now, Here’s How!

With E3 commencing today, it’s all about the games, and with Microsoft having spilled the details on a bunch of eagerly-anticipated titles including Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Halo 5, it’s almost Sony’s turn to take center stage and unleash some announcements of its own. If you’re a PlayStation fan and have been eagerly awaiting news, you’ll be pleased to learn that Battlefield Hardline has just arrived as a beta to the PlayStation Store, and with a simultaneous beta also rolling out for PC, fans of the immensely-popular franchise will be able to aid the process of creating yet another great installment.
First-person shooters, as a format, tend to be the most popular, and given the continued success of the CoD series, the recently-released Titanfall and many others like them, it’s no surprise to see the developers and publishers continually churning out releases on a regular basis.
BF Hardline
Battlefield has long since pushed the boundaries in terms of both graphics and game play, and now, Battlefield Hardline will look to entice the shoot-‘em-up-loving faithful with this public beta. The title doesn’t launch in full until October 21st, so don’t go expecting anything like finished article, but rather a flavor of the kind of thing you can expect when playing the complete, retail edition later on in the year.
If you’re on PS4, you can pick up the beta through the PlayStation Store, provided you’re in the ownership of Battlefield 4. Those on PC can sign up for the beta over at EA’s website, but you’ll need to get in quickly as places are limited and EA is operating a first come, first serve system. Simply point your browser to: battlefield.com/hardline/beta to sign-up right away. Once you’re in, you will be notified via email when the beta is ready for download.
Keep in mind though, the closed beta for Battlefield Hardline is not available for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
BF Hardline beta sign up
As well as PC and PS4, Battlefield Hardline will be coming to the Xbox One, and EA also took the opportunity to today confirm that it will also be available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Even though it’s been only eight months since the two new consoles arrived last holiday, there’s that real fear among gamers that developers will begin to overlook the older machines for the pivotal, new games such as this, but fortunately, for now, it’s still early enough in the day for EA to deem Xbox 360 / PS3 support a worthwhile pursuit.
As aforementioned, Battlefield Hardline will make its way to market on October 21st, and as ever, we’ll endeavor to bring you any updates on its progress as and when it becomes available.

DOOM 4 Teaser Trailer Released, Watch It Right Here!

DOOM 4 Teaser Trailer Released, Watch It Right Here!

DOOM will always hold a special place in the hearts of those of us that remember the first game to bear that name, and while it’s been a whole ten years since DOOM 3 had us all hiding behind our chairs, the enthusiasm for one of the world’s biggest gaming franchises hasn’t died down – even after that movie that did its best to scrape the entire thing off. If you’ve seen it, you know what we mean. If you haven’t, then you’re one of the lucky ones.

Announced at this year’s E3 by developer Bethesda, DOOM 4 will once again provide the kind of hell-ish shooter action that we’ve all become accustomed to from the DOOM franchise, and that sounds just great to us. The title has had its problems during the prolonged development cycle that has led us to this point, but with Bethesda promising to give the game a proper outing at this year’s Quakecon which from July 17th, we should get to see a little more of what is going to be on offer soon enough.
Doom 4 teaser reveal
In fact, we should be able to play it relatively soon, too. Bethesda had already promised that a DOOM beta would be made available for those who just can’t wait, and while the form of that beta hasn’t been disclosed as yet, we do know that it will be available on every platform you’d want it on; PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. Sorry, no Wii-U version, unsurprisingly. It’s a fairly safe bet that the list of platforms getting the beta is the same list that DOOM 4 will eventually ship on.
If you’re a big DOOM fan then you do not want to miss out the DOOM reveal trailer we’ve embedded below. We’re sure it will get you as excited as we got when we first got a glimpse of it!
Right now, we’re left to wait for Quakecon before we get any more information, but if DOOM 4 turns out as well as DOOM 3 did, we’re sure it’ll be quite the fright-fest. We can’t wait to give it a try!
We’ll keep our eyes and ears  pealed for more information on DOOM 4, too. We’ll keep you updated as we get more news on it!

GTA 5 Trailer On PS4 Vs PS3: Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison

GTA 5 Trailer On PS4 Vs PS3: Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison

Grand Theft Auto 5 wasn’t just the biggest release in the gaming calendar last year, but an entertainment launch of unprecedented proportions, smashing numerous records including many of those consistently claimed by Activision’s Call of Duty franchise. But despite incredible successes in 2013, the story of GTA 5 has not yet reached its conclusion, with an upscaled launch headed to the Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4 in due course. To give us an idea of just how much better it will look on the next-gen machines compared to those preceding, a new side-by-side clip has been released of the title on PS3 vs. PS4, and as you might imagine, the difference is stark.
Having personally tested out a couple of games on the PS3 and then again on the PS4, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing first-hand just how the improved hardware of the latest and greatest takes gaming and visuals to the next level. But as you will see from this comparison of trailers, as compiled by the folks of DigitalFoundry, those enjoying Grand Theft Auto 5 on the PlayStation 4 will be in for a real treat, and Rockstar Games appears to be making good on its promise that the title “will take full advantage of the power of the PlayStation 4.”

GTA 5 will re-launch this fall on the PlayStation 4, and will also arrive on the Xbox One and PC, and although we were dazzled by the aesthetics the first time around, we’re even more excited to see what’s coming up after this little taster.
Looking ahead, the developers know that many PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers will look to upgrade their version of GTA later this year, and as such, the process of transferring characters and progression will apparently be a streamlined and painless one.
Grand Theft Auto Online, which took quite a while to get up and running after the initial launch of GTA 5, should be ready to rock from the get-go, and with all of the great weaponry and vehicles Rockstar has packed into the gaming industry’s most popular release, we simply can’t wait to enjoy what looks a phenomenal upgrade.
Check the trailer below, and be sure to leave your comments via the usual channels:

Here’s What The GTA 5 Trailer Looks Like When Remade In Real Life

Here’s What The GTA 5 Trailer Looks Like When Remade In Real Life

Grand Theft Auto 5 has been a monumental success for Rockstar Games, having broken all sorts of sales records following its release late last year. With a next-gen version for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as well as the PC also in the pipeline, GTA fans remain very much engaged with this immensely popular title, and none perhaps more so than the guys at Zapruder Pictures. In Spain’s capital city of Madrid, the folks of Zapruder have parodied the entire trailer in real life, and the result, as you’ll see below, is truly something to admire.
Although this frame-by-frame replication of the official trailer is pretty darned accurate, it’s fair to say that Rockstar really had to pull out the stops in taking care of eager GTA 5 enthusiasts last year. What was originally supposed to be a spring release didn’t actually arrive until the fall, and while the publisher’s promise that the title would be worth the wait was, thankfully, underlined by the quality of the finished product, Rockstar released countless trailers and in-game teasers in order to keep fans interested while the finishing touches were applied.
GTA 5 real life main
But as we continue to wait for the up-scaled versions for our beloved next-gen consoles, Zapruder’s take on the GTA trailer is quite spectacular. Such is the realism that Rockstar has managed to achieve in GTA 5, that many of us have become entranced into thinking that Los Santos is a real place, and while the fictional location is said to be based on Los Angeles in the United States, Zapruder has done a pretty good impersonation job right from Spain.
A lot of attention to detail has been paid here, and just for a split second – particularly in the shot with the red BMW – it almost feels as though you’re watching a true GTA trailer rather than a copycat effort.
Rockstar hasn’t yet begun its campaign to once again ramp up the hype behind the high-def remakes of the iconic title, and while the following clip does no harm to the upcoming title’s prospects, it may also have GTA fans flocking to Madrid for their vacations this summer.
Below, you can check out the trailer in all of its glory, and as ever, be sure to leave your comments via the usual mediums.

GTA 5 For PS4, Xbox One, PC Detailed, Here’s What Is New!

GTA 5 For PS4, Xbox One, PC Detailed, Here’s What Is New!

After the monumental success of Grand Theft Auto 5, you could forgive Rockstar Games for taking its foot off the gas somewhat and merely enjoying the moment, but then again, we know just by playing the immensely enjoyable title that Rockstar is a company that simply doesn’t, by nature, rest on its laurels. Having remained fairly coy with regards to an upgraded, tweaked, and generally better version of GTA 5 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC, the company has now put the doubts to rest by making it official, and as you might expect, the gaming world has dived straight in to try and gather as many details as possible.
As a long-standing fan of the GTA franchise, I was just as excited as many of you were with regards to Grand Theft Auto 5’s release, and like pretty much everybody, I wasn’t in the least bit disappointed.
GTA 5 wall
The only real downer, if you like, was the fact that it dropped just weeks prior to the release of two major new consoles in the PS4 and Xbox One, and even though GTA 5 offers scintillating aesthetics on the PS3 and Xbox 360, the feeling lingers that we’re not getting the full-on, unadulterated experience.
As such, Prima Games has sought to look ahead to what’s next, which makes sense in light of Rockstar’s recent stamp of approval on the release of the next-gen editions of the game this fall, and as we kinda already knew, it’s the graphical performance that will really bring that “wow” factor. Apparently, the title will be reworked, with better detail on characters and enhanced clarity of environmental effects, and by the sound of things, it’ll allow gamers to see Los Santos in an entirely different, better light.

As aforementioned, though, we were never under any illusions that a next-gen remake would be a better looking one, and one other tidbit that might get GTA 5 fans excited is the fact that all of the current single-player and GTA Online DLC content will be available to those playing the upgraded edition. Gamers can readily transfer their current game state over to the newer title too, so if you’ve put a lot of hours into building up your current progress, you won’t lose out when you make the jump this fall.
Rockstar has remained fairly quiet on the details front, but hopefully, we’ll be treated to the same quantity teaser clips and screenshots that we had to drool over through most of last year.
Will you be getting the next-gen version of GTA 5?

Download Destiny Beta For PlayStation 4, 3, Xbox One, 360 Without Needing Any Invite Code

Download Destiny Beta For PlayStation 4, 3, Xbox One, 360 Without Needing Any Invite Code

Destiny, the new game by the people behind Halo, Bungie, is currently in the midst of a public beta. The early version that is currently playable lets gamers create their own character and then go on some multiplayer killing sprees against not just computer-controlled AI, but also other gamers. Until now, the beta has been of the closed variety but now it’s open to just about anyone, so no invite code is required.
The title’s new-found openness means that anyone with an Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 can get their mitts on the beta version of Destiny, with either Xbox LIVE or PlayStation Plus needed in order to download the game. The one exception here is the PS3 which, for some reason, doesn’t need any sort of subscription and can be downloaded by anyone who wants to give the Destiny beta a whirl.
Destiny
The beta itself is around a week old on the PS3 and PS4, with Microsoft’s consoles only getting the beta very recently. Bungie had previously only made the beta version of Destiny available to those that had pre-ordered the finished product, but it’s now wide open to just about anyone. In short, you don’t have to stump out any sort of cash just to try Destiny, the way it should be!
If you do want to give Destiny a try before release date though, you’ll need to be quick because it ends very soon indeed. In fact, Destiny goes bye-bye at 2:59 AM ET on July 28th, so there’s no time to waste!
In case you’re wondering, the Destiny beta is compatible with all the consoles listed below:
  • PlayStation 3
  • PlayStation 4
  • Xbox 360
  • Xbox One
The consoles listed below aren’t compatible with the beta because of the sheer hard drive requirement:
  • Xbox 360 Arcade
  • Xbox 360 4GB
  • Xbox 360 Core
  • PlayStation 3 12GB
And in case you’re wondering, you can’t get around the hard drive requirement by using an external drive, so you should have a monstrous internal hard drive if you want things to tick along nicely.
Destiny screenshot
For Xbox One users, you have to download the Destiny beta completely before you can start playing, otherwise you’ll be faced with a “the installed game is corrupted message”, despite the game is not corrupt. Let it go all the way to 100% before you start playing, just keep that notion in mind.

PlayStation Network And Xbox LIVE Hit By DDoS Attack

PlayStation Network And Xbox LIVE Hit By DDoS Attack

If you happen to be a regular gamer on Sony or Microsoft’s online gaming platforms then chances are that you realized all wasn’t well in the video game world over the weekend. Sure, like any other online service, Xbox LIVE and Sony’s PlayStation Network are prone to the odd glitch here and there, which can result in downtime, but it seems that the weekend’s event was a little more serious. Sony’s PlayStation Network and Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE service were both brought down simultaneously by cyber attacks over the weekend, with a group calling itself "Lizard Squad" taking responsibility for the whole thing.
Sony had initially reported via its official PSN blog that the PlayStation Network and Sony Entertainment Network had been "impacted by attempt to overwhelm our network with artificially high traffic". In other words, both of Sony’s online networks were being hit by a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack. The blog post went on to confirm that access to most areas of the Sony network had been impacted, but attempted to alleviate additional fears by confirming that "no personal information" had been accessed. The Japanese company has since updated the post to confirm that it did indeed suffered from a DDoS attack, but that all services were now up and running, which is obviously good news for gamers.
Xbox PS
It’s not unusual for large companies like Sony and Microsoft to be targeted by this type of malicious online behavior. However, what happened next is unusual and a lot more sinister. The group taking responsibility for the attack then sent a tweet to American Airlines stating its belief that flight number 362 from DFW to SAN contained explosives.
PSN DDOS
Jon Smedley, an executive with Sony Online Entertainment, was actually onboard that flight and confirmed via his own Twitter timeline that the flight was indeed forced to land unexpectedly, likely as a result of that tweet to American Airlines.
John tweet
The motivation for the attacks on Sony and Microsoft’s online services, as well as the forced landing of American Airlines flight 362, is still unknown. Both companies are reporting that all online services are once again fully operational. It’s also understood that the FBI are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the grounding of the flight carrying Jon Smedley.

Plex App Finally Arrives On Xbox One, 360 Version Coming Soon

Plex App Finally Arrives On Xbox One, 360 Version Coming Soon

The famed Plex media player / center has finally been showcased for the Xbox One, and is immediately free to download for those with Plex Pass memberships. A further release for the Xbox 360 is also on the horizon, although won’t be rolled out until later this year.
Plex is ubiquitous, with apps on platforms ranging from Apple’s iOS to Google’s Chromecast, but the introduction of new versions for Xbox One and Xbox 360 is a massive coup for both the Plex and for Microsoft. It’s a particularly welcome addition to the Xbox ecosystem given that, as of right now, Plex has made no announcement with regards to versions for the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4, and with Sony having established a strong start in the battle of the next-gen consoles, the Windows maker needs all of the assistance it can get.
Xbox One Day One controller
Plex, in a nutshell, turns devices into media streamers, and although this is the first time that Plex has been rolled out in its current form for Xbox, there’s an interesting back story to today’s landmark release that many of you will be familiar with. Because before Plex was Plex, it was XBMC, or Xbox Media Center, and so actually, originated on the Microsoft console. Having eventually mutated into Plex, it’s a much more professional app and service nowadays, and a far cry from the XBMC days. Indeed, while XBMC has played a part in Plex’s history, the new release for Xbox One just shows how far things have come, with the trademark high standard of functionality allied to the fact that it’s particularly easy on the eye.
PLex for Xbox One
One of the most important elements of any app, particularly one that purports to organize vast libraries of content such as Plex, is that it is simple to use. Just like the many other versions of Plex we’ve seen over the years, the Xbox One app is very easy to get used to, and with a wide range of file formats supported, will surely become a large part of users’ staple digital diets from here on in.
Plex for Xbox
The Xbox One app is free to download if you’ve a Plex Pass, and if you don’t have one, the cost is $4.99 per month or $39.99 for the year. You can also pony up $149.99 for a lifetime pass if you so wish, although one suspects that if Plex happens to expire before you do, you probably won’t be getting any of your money back.

Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare Gameplay Launch Trailer

Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare Gameplay Launch Trailer

Call of Duty : Advanced Warfare will be the next major installment of the popular first-person shooter when it arrives next month, and already, we have what appears to be a launch trailer. It’s somewhat unusual for these kind of clips to hit the blogosphere a full fortnight ahead of release, but if you’re waiting on tenterhooks for Activision’s next blockbuster, check out the latest teaser below.

Call of Duty’s businesslike domination of the gaming charts in recent years has been well documented, and while the gravy train has not petered out just yet, there are signs that the rather same-y format is hitting something of a plateau. Having broken sales records year on year, an increasing number of gamers have complained that each new game is a thinly veiled rehash of the last, and while there’s only so much that Activision can tweak in twelve short months, Advanced Warfare does, at least, have us a little more eager than Ghosts.
CoD Advanced Warfare main
As ever, the title will draw in scores of online multiplayer fanatics from far and wide, but while there’ll be plenty of achievements, new weaponry and other delights bundled into Advanced Warfare, the lingering prospect of the new and improved GTA 5 could also have an impact on the reception of the impending CoD.
After all, this time last year, Rockstar’s most successful release ever also set new standards as far as the wider entertainment industry was concerned, and with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners likely to indulge along with those on Windows, it’ll be intriguing to see who comes out on top. Activision will finally throw its hat into the ring on November 4th, covering both of Sony’s latest two consoles along with the Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
Advanced Warfare screen
Getting the new CoD is a bit like snapping up the new iPhone; it doesn’t always change as much as we’d have liked, but if you skip a release, the difference can be quite stark. Having taken a raincheck on Ghosts, I’m hoping that Advanced Warfare really hits the heights, and although this new trailer does look promising, there’s no way of knowing for sure until it finally drops.
To wrap up, there’s definitely a lingering feeling that if this game doesn’t hit the heights, it’s going to place Activision and the various other companies involved in the creation of the series under extreme pressure, and as a long-time, albeit slightly disillusioned fan of the serious, let’s just hope there’s enough here to keep that spark going.
As we await the release, take a gander at the new clip below, and as ever, do share your comments with us via the usual mediums – it’s always great to hear from you!

GTA 5 Online Heists Trailer Released, Releasing In Early 2015

GTA 5 Online Heists Trailer Released, Releasing In Early 2015

Grand Theft Auto 5 has a cult following really, with the latest re-release of the title for PS4 and Xbox One living it up on our big screens. The blockbuster from Rockstar was also supposed to be featuring a new online mode by now, called ‘Heists’, but it has been delayed for quite some time. Today, Rockstar has made it clear that this new DLC should be available early next year on all platforms, but there is no exact date.
Rockstar has also released a teaser video of this new online mode and it looks absolutely wicked! The entire concept behind GTA 5 Online Heists is to have players collaborate and coordinate with each other as they play specific roles, vital to successfully pulling of, you guessed it, a heist. Rockstar explains that it is pretty much like the single player campaign, just that the in-game characters have been replaced by other online ones.
Screen Shot 2014-12-18 at 5.23.14 am
We’ve seen multiplayer scenarios before, but the sheer scale of the map coupled with multiple objectives by taking on specific roles while coordinating with other online players should make for one intense ride.
Apparently what has been delaying the release of Heists is nothing technical, but just the sheer amount of effort required to really make it the prefect experience by combining intensity and complexity both in a bid to offer an experience to players that they have not come across before. For example, one member of a team could be busy performing a role at one end of the map, while the rest of the team members could be at an opposite end performing entirely different roles, but both will culminate into reaching a common end. Heists will be featuring over 20 missions in total, which should give us about 20 hours of gameplay.
The re-mastered GTA 5 has shown us that Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs is not the only game poised at changing the way games are played and how we look at them, where some even say that the title managed to achieve all of that without all the “fuss” that went into making Watch Dogs.
Whenever GTA 5 Online Heists drops, we’ll surely inform our readers about it. Until then, do share your thoughts with us what you think about this DLC.

This Is Huge: Xbox One Adds Backwards Compatibility For Xbox 360 Games

This Is Huge: Xbox One Adds Backwards Compatibility For Xbox 360 Games

Xbox One users will now be able to play their Xbox 360 games on Microsoft’s newest console thanks to the backwards compatibility feature announced by the Windows maker, with a few titles already prepped up and available for the experience.
When Microsoft announced the Xbox One, it was abundantly clear that Xbox 360 games would not be compatible to run on the new console. It was expected but still a disappointment for many 360 users who were upgrading to Xbox One as they had to start building new games library from scratch for Microsoft’s latest gaming powerhouse. Speaking at the E3 opening keynote, Microsoft announced that all of that is now history as the company plans on bringing “native” backwards compatibility to the Xbox One.
Xbox-controller-side-shot.png
Sharing this incredible piece of news, Phil Spencer, the Xbox chief, further added that a select few titles would be available to Xbox One preview members starting today, with over a hundred titles expected to make the cut by this holiday – but Microsoft hasn’t made clear ‘which’ titles they are going to be. So, what if you already own an Xbox 360 game? Obviously, you shouldn’t be charged anything, considering you’ve already paid for the game, and luckily this is exactly how Microsoft is playing it out – given that any alternative would beat the whole purpose of this update.
Users who already own Xbox 360 titles will see their games pop up automatically in their account that they can then download on Xbox One digitally, and to sweeten the deal, Microsoft is also throwing in the ability to live broadcast, take screenshots, enable DVR features on these 360 games, giving users a slightly fresher experience of those old games.
Xbox-One-group-shot-side-view.png
This is a significantly huge move from Microsoft, and one that will definitely go down well with hardcore gamers around the globe. If you have an old Xbox 360 library of games lying around, Microsoft has today given you a good reason to latch on to it for the time to come.
We’ll bring you more details on this news as we hear more from Microsoft at E3 this week, so stay tuned.
